The story of "My Heart" begins long before the first brushstroke met the canvas. It begins with a journey of hope, heartache, and miracles—a journey that ultimately led me to the greatest love I have ever known: my son, Wills.
For eight long years, I struggled with infertility. Those years were filled with countless doctor visits, the rollercoaster of hope and despair, and the silent prayers whispered in the darkest hours of the night. I endured multiple cycles of IVF, each one carrying the weight of dreams and the fear of heartbreak. Along the way, I faced the unbearable loss of an infant and a near-death experience that tested my strength in ways I could never have imagined. Yet, through it all, there was a quiet, unyielding belief that my story wasn’t over.
Then came the day that changed everything—the day of his conception through IVF. In that moment, I witnessed what I can only describe as the "spark of life," a tiny flicker of hope that would grow into the beating heart of my son. That spark was the beginning of something extraordinary.
The first time I heard his heartbeat, it was as if the world stood still. That rhythmic, steady sound was the music of life itself, a melody that spoke of resilience, love, and the incredible bond between a mother and her child. From that moment on, my heart no longer lived within me; it resided in him. Every beat of his little heart became a reminder of the miracle that he is and the love that flows endlessly between us.
"My Heart" is a series of ten paintings that captures this journey. Each piece is set against the backdrop of bright blue skies filled with soft, billowy clouds, symbolizing the boundless hope and joy that Wills has brought into my life. The central motif of a heart in each painting represents the essence of a mother’s love—unbreakable, enduring, and infinite. These paintings trace the arc of my experience, from the day of his conception to the everyday miracle of watching his heart continue to beat with life, laughter, and love.
This series is dedicated to Wills, my four-year-old son, who embodies the brightest blue skies and the deepest love I have ever known. It is a celebration of motherhood, resilience, and the extraordinary bond that can only be described as a mother’s heart living outside her body. Through "My Heart," I hope to share the beauty of this love and to inspire others to see the miracles in their own lives, no matter how hard the journey may seem.
